Vivian Lam

Vivian was born and raised in Hong Kong, studied in the UK and worked in Germany and Washington D.C. for United Nations and the International Union for Conservation of Nature. A marine biologist by training, Vivian received a BSc in Environmental Life Science and an MPhil in Ecology and Biodiversity from the University of Hong Kong. From her research on sharks and local fisher communities in Southern China, she developed an interest in applied sciences for biodiversity conservation and management. She is now undertaking a PhD in Biological Sciences at the Marine Spatial Ecology Lab, University of Queensland. She hopes to solidify links between science and management through the construction of a practical tool for coral reef managers, using existing monitoring data to inform suitable management strategies to conserve our world’s coral reefs.
